Al George Memorial Scholarship

Alvin George was a pivotal figure in the credit union movement, known for his extensive volunteer service, leadership roles and active member of the San Diego Imperial Network. His contributions to the credit union community are recognized with the Alvin George Outstanding Volunteer Award, where George's legacy continues through this award, which was renamed in 2013 to honor his long-time credit union volunteerism, which honors significant contributions by people who serve credit unions in volunteer capacities.

His dedication to the credit union movement and his commitment to building stronger communities and improving members' lives through various actions such as financial education, wellness, social responsibility, mentorship, and diversity, equity, and inclusion practices, are celebrated in the awards program of California's Credit Unions.

The Friends of the San Diego Imperial Network is excited to partner with the San Diego Imperial Network, dedicated to supporting emerging leaders in the credit union sector. As part of this initiative, we help support the funding of scholarship through your membership as a Friend of the Network and sponsorship opportunities throughout the year. The chapter offers up to $500 for credit union individuals to attend credit union-specific educational forums. These events are not only informative and inspiring but also enhance future leaders' resumes and sharpen their skills. We encourage all credit union staff to take advantage of this opportunity and apply today!
